SPAGHETTI DINNER FAQ's
Q: What time are the spaghetti dinners?
A: They are not at an exact time, but rather "after practice" The sign up genius requires us to input a start and end time so we use 5-8pm, but note that they actually start when the girls get there. In summer, practice runs 4-6pm most days. During the school year, 3-5pm. Most of the girls carpool so they arrive about the same time. So plan for "around 6-ish" during summer and "around 5-ish" during the school year.
Q: When do the spaghetti dinners end?
A: This is also not a set time. We have to put an "end time" in the sign up genius, but it's when the girls get tired or the host kicks them out :) They are usually 60-90 mins. During the school year, they tend to be super efficient because the kids are tired and have homework and other things to do. If you're hosting and have another obligation, just let them know it ends at X and y'all gotta go. If you have to grab your kid at a certain time to get somewhere else, NO problem. It's flexible! In the past dive schedules have not always coincided with swim schedules, so you may have a "second wave" of divers coming. The girls can let you know.
Q: How do I plan for rides with time frames like "after practice" and "when they're done"
A: Great question! The upperclassman are more than willing to give rides. They almost always carpool, and it's not a problem. If your daughter is not comfortable with that, you'll have to rely on texts or calls to provide a ride.
Q: How do I drop off the food if I've signed up?
A: You have a few options. You can check with the host to find out when they are available - some people are home during the day, others work until the last minute before the dinner. If your food is not temperature sensitive, you can send it with your athlete. Always a good idea to send in disposable containers when you can.
Q: How do I plan for "after practice" if I'm the host?
A: It's tough - it's usually after practice + 15/20 mins for showers. You could ask your daughter for an arrival warning text, but don't worry as these dinners are very casual. They're grateful for dinner and the point is to be together and have fun!
